Meet Haloumi Roswell!

Huzzah! I went to my first ever murder mystery last night, organised by my wonderful friends. So so fun, I had quite a bit of anxiety beforehand about it but once I got there and into character it was pretty damn amazing… and thus began:

The Late Spock Partridge Presents: Spock Partridge’s Wake-apalooza, featuring The Late Spock Partridge

My character story/background was as follows:

Haloumi was raised as a circus performer and trapeze artist. After her parents were killed in a freak accident with a trained seal, Haloumi was selected among other disenfranchised children without any loved ones who would miss them to join a CIA and NASA joint project. Haloumi was trained in a secret facility, moulded to become the ultimate astro-soldier in case of space combat with the Russians.

So impressive were her skills that she was selected for Operation Custom Disc. She was injected with many different serums by Dr. Tabernacle Fury, and she was transformed into The Bullet Proof Funkster, with incredible magnetic abilities. However Haloumi was unable to control her magnetic powers, and causes havoc with many technological devices. Even so, Haloumi headed the short lived super hero team of Custom Disc, with members such as The Mighty Mole (AKA Bottles Centauri) and Captain Betadine (AKA Grady Manson).

After being dismissed from NASA, she became a successful super cop in New York City, taking out underground cells wherever she could. Haloumi was given the Medal of the Fist to commemorate her incredible efforts in fighting crime.

However, it has become obvious to Haloumi that her great powers of magnetism are dwindling, and Haloumi has taken leave from the force to go on a quest to renew her abilities. Upon researching into Dr. Tabernacle Fury, the man who her the powers, she found obscure blog posts and encrypted plots, which lead to a terrifying new serum created by Dr. Fury. It became obvious that Dr. Fury was attempting to take over the world with his new serum, and the key ingredient was Cosmic Dust from the Apollo 11 1/2 landing.

Haloumi is seeking out Tabernacle Fury to spoil his plot of world domination while also trying to find the last remaining Cosmic Dust so as to renew her powers.

All of the characters were amazingly written and with such depth! For this all credit goes to Ben, Josh and Matt :] They spent ages sorting everything out and it all turned out amazingly!  We also got a goal, motive and a list of relationships that we had with other characters.

GOAL

Haloumi is seeking out Tabernacle Fury to spoil his plot of world domination while also trying to find the last remaining Cosmic Dust so as to renew her powers.

MOTIVE

Spock had the last amount of Cosmic Dust known on the planet.

RELATIONSHIPS

Dr. Tabernacle Fury: The man who gave you your powers, but has turned to the dark side. You treat him cordially, but are secretly trying to undermine his plans to use Cosmic Dust to rule the world.

Bottles Centauri: A comrade from the Operation Custom Disc, and a writer. Treat with aloofness due to his awful power, being a Mole Person.

Grady Manson: Another comrade from Operation Custom Disc. He is a spiritual healer. Can Heal non-fatal wounds.

Honey Grimknoll: Another comrade from Operation Custom Disc. She is an artist and a close friend. Controls Bees with her mind.

Spock Partridge: An astronaut on the Apollo 11 ½ mission, instrumental in the retrieval of cosmic dust.

Buzz Eldritch: An astronaut on the Apollo 11 ½ mission, instrumental in the retrieval of cosmic dust.

Larceny Carpool: An astronaut on the Apollo 11 ½ mission, instrumental in the retrieval of cosmic dust.

It was hilarious. I accidentally called Bottles Centauri ‘Buttons’ the entire night, which sort of worked for my character. I realised I was doing it about 3/4 of the way into the night, and at that point I couldn’t be bothered to make the change back! Also the only person my character really knew and liked – Honey – was someone I’d never met before, so it was very much of a ‘Hey there, I’m Haloumi Roswell – we’re really good friends!’ first introduction.

I got shot at (above), but thanks to my bulletproof-ness, I made it to the end of the night. I wasn’t the murderer! By the end I had smugly acquired what I thought was cosmic dust from Dorothy Dink, but in fact it turned out to be something else, a dud drug (I think?) originating from Mr Malley, who was an extremely religious man undercover as a gonzo journalist (think Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas). I could go on and on and on about all the other characters and their secrets…

In the end it was revealed that the murderer was Buzz Eldritch – who had been to the moon with Spock – who had been taken over by Shruggoth K’Nim Yolo, a God who wanted to take over the universe, but needed Spock’s wife who was really a genie to break him free from Buzz’s body by wishing for more wishes which would cause a big enough paradox in time and space to set him free… I think. It was one hell of a story, and it was absolutely amazing.

I have brilliant, brilliant friends.
